"Mom, yook (look) at your eyes..."
"Yes, what about them Clancy?"
"They're pink"
Lately I've noticed my contacts hurting my eyes, or maybe it's just all the lists of things that I need to do permanently imprinting themselves on my corneas (I need a screensaver in the form of a nap!). Blogging made it to the top of my list today only because I feel very hypocritical being disappointed that all my favorite bloggers haven't posted in the last week, when my posts are sometimes months apart.
The running blog in my mind is insightful, often funny, and always up-to-date, ...sometimes updated more than once daily. So much of what I hear, see, or experience gets catalogued in my mind as great subject matter for a new post, and some of it actually makes it into clever and amusingly phrased monologues. Don't bother scrolling through my previous posts as this blog exists only in my mind along with funny or sweet birthday messages that arrive in a handmade card on your birthday, and thank you notes that express my sincere gratitude and don't take 6 months for me to write. Until someone invents a gadget that will transcribe my thoughts, they will stay in the folds of my gray matter where I alone can appreciate them. Who knows, maybe one day I will get myself organized enough that the extra minutes that get wasted when the kids are quiet will be used for things like blogging, but even then the blog will have to share its time with so many other projects that I can only dream of doing (making Chloe's birth announcements and the hemming and mending a mountain of clothes, finishing baby quilts that I started 3 years ago, and making my wedding album).
I'll have to work with the contacts, and maybe I'll try to keep my lists moving so their impact won't be visible in my eyes. If you have advice on potty training, teaching your toddler NOT t swear (not sure where he picked this up), sticking to a budget (especially in the grocery category), and time management, I'll take it. We all know that hindsight is 20/20 and I'm in need of a new prescription...
When did you start wearing contacts again?
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling of having a running blog post in your mind. I often wish I could wear a video camera that would perfectly tape all the funny things that everyday life with children brings. I would love to get into your gray matter and see all the things that you wish you had time to do. But for now I am quite content with all of the things that you already do! And I hope you find more time for sleep.
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute, Laura. Get some rest! :)
ReplyDeleteLaur, you're hilarious. I know what you're saying about the brain blog. Unfortunately most of my good ideas come when I'm in the shower--not the best place for blogging. Good luck with the swearing, or not swearing.
ReplyDeleteI updated my blog just for you! I have no advice on potty training. The potty training is not going well at our house. One of these days (when I can work up enough courage) Eric will spend the day in the kitchen with his potty wearing only a t-shirt and his new Cars undies. I wonder how many days in the kitchen it will take to get him potty trained???
ReplyDeleteI am glad you posted. Don't worry I have a hard time finding time too! I am still working with Grant and potty training...once we get it, I will let you know. All I no is pull ups are a negative. Now I am on to plan #2. I am not changing 3 boy's diapers in a few months! Ahh! As for staying on a budget we are still working on that. I put aside some time one day a week to look at ads, cut coupons, and make a meals list and this has helped us the most. Camille gave me a tip when she posted about putting a schedule together of what days you do certain laundry, certain projects, certain cleaning. Then you are not overwhelmed everyday with everything. I am still working on this but it has helped. Anyway, didn't know if you really wanted advice but there you go. I need to call you. I miss you! You are such a wonderful Mommy and wife! You are placing the most important thing first, which is your family.
