Conversations with the kids

Chloe admiring the hippos Clancy with a gargantuan Orangutan

So the kids have been buzzing with life lately. Clancy can't stop talking about our trip to Utah, nursery, storytime, chinese, and the zoo. During breaks in the conversation during dinner, he often says, "Let's talk about...giraffes...they have long necks..." We've started trying to teach him animal names and transportation vehicles in Chinese, so he now asks what almost everything is in Chinese. Sometimes he will mutter some incomprehensible gibberish and then explain that it is Chinese. No wonder I didn't understand!

Chloe is starting to try conversation too. Usually her conversations include bubbles and drool along with smiles, laughs, and sounds something like "a-goo". Almost everytime I ask her "what do you want to say, Chloe?" she takes the cue and starts blabbering.

Birding Suit

Ok, a quick one...After reading my post "Come on over", someone requested further information on a birding suit and this is what Google came up with. So the offer still stands...come over and enjoy the birds, but leave the gun at home. Be forewarned, if you show up wearing this suit my laughter may scare away the birds.

A New Prescription

"Mom, yook (look) at your eyes..."

"Yes, what about them Clancy?"

"They're pink"

Lately I've noticed my contacts hurting my eyes, or maybe it's just all the lists of things that I need to do permanently imprinting themselves on my corneas (I need a screensaver in the form of a nap!). Blogging made it to the top of my list today only because I feel very hypocritical being disappointed that all my favorite bloggers haven't posted in the last week, when my posts are sometimes months apart.

The running blog in my mind is insightful, often funny, and always up-to-date, ...sometimes updated more than once daily. So much of what I hear, see, or experience gets catalogued in my mind as great subject matter for a new post, and some of it actually makes it into clever and amusingly phrased monologues. Don't bother scrolling through my previous posts as this blog exists only in my mind along with funny or sweet birthday messages that arrive in a handmade card on your birthday, and thank you notes that express my sincere gratitude and don't take 6 months for me to write. Until someone invents a gadget that will transcribe my thoughts, they will stay in the folds of my gray matter where I alone can appreciate them. Who knows, maybe one day I will get myself organized enough that the extra minutes that get wasted when the kids are quiet will be used for things like blogging, but even then the blog will have to share its time with so many other projects that I can only dream of doing (making Chloe's birth announcements and the hemming and mending a mountain of clothes, finishing baby quilts that I started 3 years ago, and making my wedding album).

I'll have to work with the contacts, and maybe I'll try to keep my lists moving so their impact won't be visible in my eyes. If you have advice on potty training, teaching your toddler NOT t swear (not sure where he picked this up), sticking to a budget (especially in the grocery category), and time management, I'll take it. We all know that hindsight is 20/20 and I'm in need of a new prescription...
