A Really Cheap Date

Last night Andrew and I went on a free date to see "Shrek, the Musical" at the 5th Avenue Theater. Andrew's company offered him some really good and free tickets for us and another couple. It was a lot of fun.

At first I wasn't sure I would like the show because I really wasn't a fan of the movie, but I really like musicals and we went for it. There was definitely a lot less potty humor in the musical than in the movie, and the songs and acting were really amusing. It also seemed that the moral of the story--you know, not judging people before you get to know them--was more obvious in this version. The acting, the dancing, the sets, and the singing were really impressive, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised since many of the cast members have either won or been nominated for Tony Awards. Soon Shrek will be leaving Seattle for Broadway, so if you liked the movie or are willing to give the story another chance in a different setting, I recommend it!

  1. That's super fun. I kind of laughed when I saw they were doing a Shrek musical. I'm glad that it turned out well. And a free date! You can't beat that.
